It didn’t take long after her first sip of coffee at age four (heavy on the cream and sugar, of course) before our Dish’n Dames feature, Sara Gibson was emotionally hooked. The fond memories with her father, the morning ritual of sharing a warm cup of coffee, and the aromas are at the heart of why Sara is so passionate about her position as green buyer and head roaster at Greater Goods Coffee Company in Austin, Texas.
After taking a course on coffee in the Bay Area and learning about the science and skill it takes to create that perfect cup of coffee, Sara’s early connection with coffee great even stronger. When her family moved from Stockton, California, to Dripping Springs, a rural community on the outskirts of Austin, Sara knew she had to find her way back to her passion. That’s when she discovered Greater Goods Coffee Company. Inquisitive and persistent, Sara returned as a customer to Greater Goods time and time again to ask questions, get involved, and learn more about this fascinating little bean with the power to charge the world. Four years later, Sara now sources their high quality, sustainable coffee from around the world and develops roast recipes to bring out each coffee’s best aromas and flavors. She is a member of the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) and Coffee Roasters Guild, as well as a mom to two humans and five cats. Greater Goods was named the best coffee in Texas by Food & Wine Magazine in 2019. |
